We had all six of our stores tied together via computer so if you wanted
to check if we had a title you could check all six stores. We decided
we should also have webcams all to the central store so we could see
which were busy and needed extra help etc and for security purposes.
When a store got opened, closed, etc.
snow was not removed from parking lot etc. and particularly running cams
in the stores, potential burglars knew they were monitored.
Over the years several burglaries were recorded and several were arrested
and convicted as a result of our webcams recording their presence and activities.
The one in the last year threw a rock thru the glass front door and did
his hurried theft. He was arrested within three hours by the Sioux
Falls Police who recognized the individual from our stored webcam
pictures.
The current system uses a computer that records only when there is
motion and stores two weeks. After that it drops two week old and
replaces with new. By putting the cams on the internet, no matter where
in the world management owner etc were they could see what was going on
at the stores. Also it made potential burglars aware that their
activities would be a public event.
The cost is relatively inexpensive and if you would like to put your
business on this type of security monitoring system, and/or on the net,
contact us, we can tell you how to do it and might even help.
